Aporii, composed of duo partners Doug O’Connor and Jeff Siegfried, is redefining the saxophone duo genre. By fostering extensive and intimate collaborative relationships with composers, Aporii is dedicated to pushing boundaries and expanding the language of saxophone repertoire, seeking to conjure a continually renewing state of aporia, or wonder through doubt. A new duo on the scene, their debut album will feature new commissions by acclaimed composers Alyssa Weinberg, Andrew Mead, and Caleb Burhans. Aporii's performances are celebrated for their rhythmic virtuosity and technical precision, challenging audiences to explore ambiguity and wonder.

Doug O’Connor, Assistant Professor of Saxophone at the Peabody Conservatory, excels in classical, contemporary, jazz, and electronic music. He champions new works and innovative chamber music, merging tradition with technology. Jeff Siegfried, Assistant Professor of Saxophone at West Virginia University, combines a “rich, vibrant tone” with “showstopper performances” (Peninsula Reviews). His background spans classical, jazz, and musicology. Together as Aporii, they aim to bring the saxophone duo to the cutting edge of the contemporary music scene, pushing their repertoire to engage with ever expanding possibilities and artistic discovery.
