Hannah Hickman, a saxophonist originally from Sheldon, Iowa, has built a distinguished career as both a performer and educator. She has appeared internationally at events such as the World Saxophone Congress, International Saxophone Symposium, Music for All Summer Symposium, Mostly Modern Festival, Caroga Lake Music Festival, and the Avaloch Farm Music Institute. A recent highlight of her career includes performing as a New Fromm Player at the Tanglewood Music Center and as a featured soloist at the Festival of Contemporary Music. In 2017, she gained national recognition as a Yamaha Young Performing Artist and has since performed as a soloist with the University of Minnesota Symphony Orchestra, the Hartt Wind Ensemble, and as a guest artist with ensembles like the Albany Symphony and the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra. Hannah is passionate about commissioning and premiering new works, contributing to the saxophone’s evolving repertoire. She has served on the teaching faculties of The Hartt School, Westfield State University, and Mount Holyoke College, and she mentors young musicians through her summer roles at the American Saxophone Academy, Kansas City Saxophone Workshop, and her online platform, KeySpark. Currently pursuing a doctoral degree at The Hartt School under Carrie Koffman, Hannah holds degrees in music education and saxophone performance from the University of Minnesota, University of Michigan, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her performances and teaching reflect her commitment to artistry, education, and innovation in music.
